Indeed ... An excellent find ... I had forgotten all about that conversation. It was near the end of a period of poverty and chronic internet interuptus ... Always a struggle to find a seat at the local library's public access.

What for? One last time: OPENTTD DOES NOT TRANSMIT ANY INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR LOCAL NEWGRFS TO ANYBODY, NEITHER ON STARTUP NOR WHEN CLICKING 'ONLINE CONTENT', 'RESCAN FILES' OR ANYTHING SIMILAR. THE ONLY POINT WHERE SOMETHING IS TRANSMITTED IS WHEN YOU CREATE A PUBLIC NETWORK GAME (by necessity, clients have to know if they are able to join, after all). Don't click 'Start server' (and don't request new online content) and you have your offline button.
