So I came back around to see if there was anything new with the Canadian set, and it seems that both the set and Oz have dropped off the face of the earth. I can't find the downloads anywhere on here or on the TT-Forums.

Also with OzTrains way of coding everything with the new stuff so that the grf's disable them selves when you use them with certain grfs, I can't use most of the CanSet stuff with other GRFs. I need the old v0.2 town names grf because the v1.6 version disables it self if used with other town name grfs (Which I use for when I set up my North American GRF preset, just so I have a selection of town names to choose from in the options menu)

Lastly, what is up with the whole "like it or leave it" approch with the Canadian set? Its either you use only the Canset stuff or you don't, with the current coding its hard to use Canset with certain GRFs which is pretty silly since the old files worked just fine with other GRFs. Oz, if you can see this, please remove the feature that disables the grfs or at least add a parameter that allows loading the set with potentially incompatible grfs.

Unfortunately I don't think there are any older versions of OzTrans .grf's from the "All Things Canadian" available anywhere as his intention has been to open up his own site HERE - still under construction I'm afraid.

As for his previous files here at Simuscape they were removed by Team Simuscape following his departure from the Artists Guild as stated in our ToS.

How hard would it be to make a new Canadian town names grf? I don't know much about NML and tryin g to understand is immpossible for someone like me. If someones willing to code the NML I could get a list of major and minor Canadian city and town names. For a start theres "Oshawa".

It would also be cool if such a GRF could have the provinces abbrivation like "Oshawa, ON" or "Winnipeg, MA" or "Vancouver, BC"

Have you tried to decompile any of the town names .grf's available to see how it's all done? That may give you an idea on how to proceed and get what you want... :) I can't imagine it's a big deal at all...

Why reinvent the wheel?

There is a Canadian Town Names topic over at tt-forums. The user guide has a list of the names included. Oh look! :o There's Oshawa in the Golden Horseshoe. It will pop up in the O Canada grouping too.

And version 1.1 is there too. 8-)

It would be, but it would be kind of messy too what with Oshawa,ON appearing next door to Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump,AB or Jerry's Nose,NF.

As far as I know, decoding a GRF coded in NML will return the code in NFO.

Correct. Pretty useless unless you know NFO.

You could also ask OzTrans for a copy of the NewGRF.
