Great stuff. A new version of Canadian Cities would need some more variation of colors used. Of course not TTRS style.

Actually, for Canadian cities, those are quite colourful and not the dull grey granite one usually sees in the older sections which are usually less than 150 years. More colourful buildings are slowly appearing, but they are of various shades of glass, still quite monotonous. @OzTrans: Excellent screenshots.

Yes, truly nice screens... Loved the highways with the new gantry... Reminds me to downsize my own signs... But couldn't help notice traffic is running on the "wrong side"...

athanasios wrote: Wally: Hmm, from some photos I can conclude that the set still has a lot of potential to become even better-even with gray buildings!: No doubt about it. The dull of the grey was more than offset by the character of the architecture. Notice that most of those photos are of Montréal, where I grew up. That city features a unique blend of the old and the new. See the cruciform "skyscaper" to the top right in the first photo? That is Place Ville Marie. It stands across the street from Gare Central which is featured in the Canadian Station set. It also stands above Gare Central and the entry to the train tunnel under Mount Royal. The buildings of Montréal could on their own, fill all the TTD building slots.

SAC wrote: ... couldn't help notice traffic is running on the "wrong side"... Well, the player has chosen 'left traffic side'. Had the player chosen 'right traffic side', then those signs would be on the other side of the highway/road. Quote: ... more City Buildings ... There are plans of adding more buildings to the set. They are from lifeblood and are somewhere in my bottom drawers. Also, I intend to block those TTD 'original' buildings from appearing, especially later in a game. If anybody has some nice buildings, let's have them for inclusion. Also, if there are any suitable ones in TTRS, they could be included too. Just not those exploding hotels or the rather silly ones. wallyweb wrote: ... Place Ville Marie ... Wallyweb has drawn that one, I haven't added it yet as it does not really fit among all the others, it'll probably need some more work.

History repeats itself ... That is exactly what the city fathers said back in the 1960's when it was built. Thankfully the architects prevailed and Montréal was able to enter a period of modernization while preserving the more historical districts. To this day, the most obvious limitation is a height limit that preserves an unobstructed view from the observation points atop Mount Royal. Hence the regular maximum skyline seen in that first photo above. Many of those buildings wanted to be much taller.

Come on that's not a height limit. Come and see Athens. We cannot afford to block the view of the Parthenon. On the other hand hearing that more buildings are under plans for the Canadian set makes me very happy. - Turned bipolar!

A couple of screenshots that made it into the Screenshot Competition over at tt-forums ... The Calgary Rail Junction was once very heavily congested, after a complete redesign, it is nowadays with its 3 levels just a very busy place ...
