No Crocodiles in my State of New South Wales. Probably could replace it with Goanna Steak as there are some big ones of those.

Started to do more work to the Sydney Railway Station.

At first I had the buildings this colour scheme. But the buildings I used 8 bit colours. I forgot that I can have 32 bit colour stations so I changed them.

This what they would look like with out the dome.

And this with the domes.

Shame the dome covers the fronts of the buildings so thinking maybe a second set of domes could be made that are transparent.

Shall see what I can come up with.

But first I need to flip these buildings for other views.

Yes. It will look better to make them transparent.

This what might look if make the dome transparent. I just removed the roofing iron and exposed the ribs.

Also made clock tower a bit narrower too.

Hope when I finish this station all 15 terminal platforms will be available, but hope I can also design it so can make it narrower if like.

Update to my Sydney Station.

New additions:
* Changed a few windows on North-East side high buildings.

* Changed platform surface .. before it look to much like gravel so hope looks more like tile surface.

* Changed the shading to the platform awnings to match the dome. If you can view this station on Google Earth will see the awnings are almost a white.

* The terminal part of the platforms added the fences and adjusted the awnings.

* South-East corner - started on the terminal end awnings for Platforms 11 to 15

* The awning terminal end Platforms 9 and 10 looks a bit weird, but that is how it is in real. It is higher than the main awnings and has some transparency sections. Under this awning is stairs leading down to a pedestrian subway that goes under platforms 11 to 15 and had stairs going back up to access to Platforms 16 to 23 and access to the underground platforms 24 and 25.

* Platform awnings for 2, 4, 6 and 8 you might notice slightly out of alignment by 2 pixels .. please ignore .. I have fixed it in main graphics, just forgot to change these in this display.

What still to be done:

* North-West .. Platforms 1, 2 and 3 .. the awnings I have used was the type in use when station first build in 1901 .. these platforms used to be same length as platforms 4 to 10. Later these 3 platforms were made longer to fit trains like the Southern Aurora, Spirit of Progress, Brisbane Limited and the Indian Pacific trains. The awnings were also changed so they slopped inwards (opposite to what shown here) .. So will probably make a modern set of awnings for these platforms as well.

* At far end of platforms 4 to 15 have stairs down to another pedestrian subway that also has access to Platforms 4 to 25.

* Terminal end of Platforms 12 to 15 is another building I yet to make.

* North-West side - Platform 1 is a very long platform .. more buildings to be add including a parcel office and 4 parcel dock platforms.

* North-East buildings - behind these to add a tram terminal.

* South-East buildings - the concourse to be widened and add access to the tram section.

That will do for now.

Construction work proceeding along at a steady pace.

Coded all (I hope) buildings needed for stations to face the SE and SW.

Added buffer stops and concourse areas as well.

Work to commence on the platforms .. hope tomorrow.

Looks like another trip to Sydney to get more photos along each platform to see if I can add any more styles.

Platforms had these buildings at the end .. the had access to a subway so parcels and mail could be transferred between trains and the Parcels Office over at Platform 1 (which I am still to make).

Been playing around with joining the tiles for the station sets instead of having them singly.

For a 7x7 track set it looks like this:

template_7x7_test_32bpp.png
template_7x7_test_32bpp.png [ 18.36 KiB | Viewed 3840 times ]

Mixing some non track tiles with the track tiles looks like this:

template_7x7_testwithnontracks_32bpp.png

Why the non-track tiles down the centre?

To get this effect:

Next time you visit a station that has a Island Platform you will notice the tracks split so they go down either side of the island like in this pic of Teralba Station.
Attachment:
Teralba_2028.png

And I like things to look as real as possible hence why I came up with this idea.

Also have a non-track for the Island platform will allow room for a nicer design of the buildings.

Hope to make some more joined tracks sets of different sizes with mixed tile sets.

If like to try here the game file.
