That looks really cool!
Is it possible though to draw a bit of rigging under the passable segment?
Just to make it look a bit stronger.

I should be able to do the rigging under the centre piece for one level.

I going to Paterson today to get photos of the bridge there so hope to do more to these bridges tomorrow,

Cheers

I did have 4 wood bridge types but could reduce it to 3.
Attachment:

3 wooden bridges-1.png [ 55.44 KiB | Viewed 6603 times ]

When bridges are made a odd length can have the Iron Plating or the Steel Girder as the odd piece that crosses rivers and roads.

The wooden trestle I not see any photos of that style of bridge with any Iron Plating ot anthing different in middle yet so not sure what good put in middle except strengthen the wood work.

I spent a few hours today at a place called Paterson taking photos of a bridge across the Paterson River and flood planes.

Love to try make this bridge as close to this as possible. Also notice that the the base of the Iron plates and the steel girders is lower than the rails so will look at doing the same with the bridges I making.

This photo the southern end. The right end piece originally was wooden, but been replaced my metal. Next bit is Iron Plating with is original and I notice the pillars are only a engine length in distance, so maybe my bridges look nice also with a centre pillar in some places.

This the centre span of steel girder. (Should I put the 2 ropes in my bridge too so kids can swing out over the water?) Wonder if I should make my girder bridges a little wider and put in the walk ways?

This the northern end where it crosses the flood planes.
The section left of the Iron Plating used to be wooden many years ago, but now metal.

Shame when we build a bridge we can't build it in sections across the valley so can choose where we want certain pieces places.

Tomorrow I be busy seeing what I can do with these photos.

Cheers

Still collecting ideas for my bridges.

Today went to Cockle Creek and the sun was in a good angle to get photos of the girder section there with a track machine crossing.
Attachment:
Cockle Creek Bridge2.png

Notice top section of bridge has those angle beams .. so hope to try add those to my bridges.

A clip from a video I took of a DMY crossing Paterson bridge back on 31st July shows the Iron Girders and the pillars under them only the length of 1 carriage of the DMU.
Attachment:
DMU on Paterson Bridge.png

The bridge section before the Iron Plating, the pillars are a lot closer together.

So hope to do same with some of my bridges or as close as I can to those ideas.

Had some time to spare this morning so rebuilt Hexham Bridge.

The pathway is to one side of the bridge and outside of the gantry as can be seen in this image.

So I seeing if I can do same.
Thought I try using the default roads that come with the game for the bridges and hope it suits all road types.

The one ramps need adjusting still and the pillars need redoing.

Wonder if ever this bridge can be made for the game.

And if I am not wrong it is not the first time it has been asked for.

Might be nice to make Ferry as a Object and the on off ramps each side the river also objects.

Whether it can be animated to go from one side the river to the other?

Why reinvent the (paddle) wheel? All the ship sets have ferries. Players can't make money off of objects. [insert greedy rich guy tycoon smiley here]

Not seen this type in the ship sets yet, but than I never tried all the ship sets.

We used to know them as Punts and could carry 6 to 8 cars. and the buildings on one side housed the captain and a building for pedestrian passengers.

Be fun if could arrange for the vehicles we use in game to go on to a punt and be taken across the river and than continue their journey.

I off to dream world as I bugged from be at the hospital today.

Cheers

:o You got bugs while you were at the hospital?

But we do not have ferries loading 'real' vehicles.

A patch would be needed. :(
... and the magic of quast with overlapping tiles. ;)

What would be more easy? Work with ship or bridges code?

I had look in the Ship sets .. they have Ferries but no Punts :)

First I see if I can draw some object ones when I get chance and see how they look.

Wonder if they could be made to operate like the ski-lifts do .. can't remember the name of the ski lift set off hand. Just travel from one side of the river to the other and back again.

It just a dream at moment .. snowed under with other projects .. so it will go on that long list of To-Do things.

Cheers

Went train travelling yesterday to get some more photos of some road bridges crossing railway lines.

This is Beresfield Bridge
Attachment:
Beresfield.png

and this is High Street Bridge.
Attachment:
High Street.png
High Street.png [ 477.29 KiB | Viewed 6527 times ]

And this my first go at making those bridges for the game.
Attachment:
High Street and Beresfield Bridges.png
High Street and Beresfield Bridges.png [ 51.63 KiB | Viewed 6527 times ]

The High Street bridge originally had brick fencing so I put made it with brick instead of the wire mesh fence.

The High Street bridge abutments spreads out either side of the bridge .. the one at far end looked ok as they was facing. But closer end looked terrible and didn't look good as they never blended in with the slope. So maybe the style I used here will be ok.

I believe the Beresfield also had brick fence, but so far not find any old photos to prove it., but might change it to brick or Wire mesh as I think it will look better.

Those bridges above are now operational.

I left the Iron Plate bridges out of the picture. But they are included in game file.

The image shows them 2 levels high so I could check out the pylons make sure they held the bridge up.

The brick bridges .. basically finished but do intend to make another road bridges wider so will go side-by-side and allow dual carriage ways.

The Steel Girder Bridge .. I think is finished.

Steel Pillar Bridges .. New set of bridges .. the rusty look courtesy of Andrew350 maker of the American Bridge set.

Stone Bridges .. The rail bridge will be replaced by a bridge (I hope) like this one.
Attachment:
Sydney-5.png
Sydney-5.png [ 357.08 KiB | Viewed 6476 times ]

The road bridge finished unless I see a new idea.

Wooden Trestle .. both finished.

Wood with Iron Plate .. Rail bridge finished ,, wooden bridge have other plans for this.

Wood with Steel Girder .. honest I don't like the steel girder on these bridges so will do something different.

Covered Bridges .. both be replaced.

Here the game file if any one like to try.

Cheers all

Looking at idea of wide railway bridges so can have double track bridges.
Attachment:
Wide Rail Bridge-1.png
Wide Rail Bridge-1.png [ 6.39 KiB | Viewed 6464 times ]

The brown pieces are access roads and walk ways. Suppose to represent timber.

The abutments probably could make each side a bit darker as if vehicles have driven along here.

Thinking to do this to all my rail bridges I made so far or just make extra ones except the wooden one. Have any one seen any double track wooden bridges?

Not sure how the steel girder will look wide but hope to give that idea a try eventually.

Making freeway road bridges using parts of the Dutch Road Furniture roads as edging.

Nice. I like the road bridge. Not too sure about a wide wood rail bridge though. Steel would be better. Maybe find some track side stuff to fill in the wide edges. Make it a special bridge, perhaps an industrial bridge or something leading into a station, etc.

Have you used up all 13 available bridge IDs yet? Don't forget that with JGR's Patch Pack you can have three more bridges for a total of sixteen. Let me know when you are ready. I can help you with the code if its in NFO.

Hi Wally,

I never seen wide wooden bridges for double lines so I not make any for the game. Have you been on a train crossing those wooden bridges, look out the window of train and can't see bridge under you. Train looks like it flying.

Will make a separate bridge with the wide idea and see how it looks.

Wonder how a bridge would look with fake Platforms on it?

Only used 8 IDs so far. IDs 00, 03, 0A, 0B and 0C still spare.

I haven't been using JGR's Patch Pack will coding as thinking what ever I make has to be usable for normal Open TTD and can be uploaded to Bananas. But we could take the skin off and make a set just for JGR players.

I hope the Real Shunting Patch will also be available in JGR later as that really looks great.

Most likely call upon you for some help here soon. The links you and Michael gave me to make the purchase menu icons for the bridges, I read them a few times and just not registering in this brain of mine. But not worth making these yet any way until I stop changing my bridge designs

I seen your Industry Bridges going over top of stations .. be good if some road bridges could do this. I have several railway stations here in Australia that has bridges going over top of stations so love to make these eventually.

Cheers pal

Take a look at the menu in my topic. There's only one GRF. It works fine in both trunk and JGR's Patch Pack. The bonus is that the JGR fans get rewarded with extra bridges.

So they are secret bridges .. I guess they will use IDs 0D, 0E and 0F.

There are a few bridge I like to make and not necessary for double tracks.

This one at Cougar on the North Coast Line near the NSW and Queensland border.
Attachment:
Cougal.png
Cougal.png [ 552.69 KiB | Viewed 6461 times ]

This one is in Queensland on the line between Warwick and Wallangarra.
There was 3 of these bridges built in late 1800s and these were the first steel laced bridges built in Australia.
This one is Quart Pot Creek Bridge near Stanthorpe. The other two were at Spring Creek and Mineral Creek and both those two been bypassed and just the pylons remain.
Attachment:
Stanthorpe Bridge.png
Stanthorpe Bridge.png [ 575.96 KiB | Viewed 6461 times ]

and culvert type bridge like this one at Singleton.
Attachment:
Singleton2.png
Singleton2.png [ 793.59 KiB | Viewed 6461 times ]

I've seen and been over the first two. The Stanthorpe one been other that one many times in a steam train. Some where in my photo collection should be my own photos of them. Chance of me ever getting to see them in real again are slim.
The Singleton culvert photo is from Google Earth and I plan to visit that one in a few weeks time and get my own photos of it.

They will fill 3 IDs, other 2 plus the 3 extras might see if can fill with wide bridges.

Quote:
It works even better than it looks.

Haven't tried the latest version yet as waiting for others to report any bugs first.

Hope to make some stations for this .. the overlap platforms make it good at terminal stations. Just need something at other end to send the engine too .. maybe signal box, water towers, shunting limit signs and make them as Platforms and hope engine will change directions at these.

Quote:

Okey dokey.

Cheers
