Hope in the next day or so have something done.
I'll finish the rusty look on those bridges after I have lunch then I test in objects make sure not have any flashing lights.
What I usually do with my colors I find a image either on internet, using images by FIRS, Chips and ISR or in my photos that have the effects I after and add these to the imagine I working on .. once I get the colour effect I hoping for I test as a object and make sure nothing flashing or not showing properly and use either the DOS or Windows Palette to change any colors that are not accepted.
I only got 7 more days where I can enjoy most of the day at the computer, then on July 7 I going to Philippines for 11 months to be with my fiancee and my 3 kids before I need to return to Australia for more medical torture. When I in Philippines have to share my computer with my kids so be less time for me. Lucky in one way one of my boys heard what I doing and he is a terrific drawer .. so hope he can put his talent to use and do some good images for our games.
Cheers

I finished making the bridge go rusty. Attachment:

I gonna have my afternoon nap and then I see about doing something with making it an actual bridge. What you think if the bottom wooden bridge was included. Made a bit wider for the sealed roads to use. Just hope it strong enough for semi trailers and buses to cross. There 2 steel girder designs .. long spans between the pylons (on left) and the short spans (on right). For the sprite in Table 04 .. I'll do a center section so that the girder be 3 tiles long. For sprite in Table 05 probably do something like this. I'll get these easier bridges done first and then have an attempt at the Hexham Bridge.

Man! I like those. Draw them all! Not to worry about the heavy vehicles. We can't set weight limits but we can sure slow them down. The bridge properties allow the setting of speed limits. Good to know you shall be enjoying some good family time. Wally

I think I'm ready to start doing the bridges .. made a template with sprites 64 by 64 so plenty heights for structure. Attachment:
Template_bridge.png [ 9.62 KiB | Viewed 10855 times ]
The placing of the sprites do they have to be in those orders? When I make the Hexham bridge wondering how to put the 2 towers so they only appear in middle of bridge. I might be able to put the towers in tables 04 and 05 so when you make the steel girder bridge long it will appear. But first I get a easy lot done.

I might be able to put the towers in tables 04 and 05 so when you make the steel girder bridge long it will appear. Make the towers 2 and 3 and make the lifting part as 4, with 0 and 1 just regular spans. We will have to limit the bridge to length 7 tiles, (5 spans + 2 ramps) (yes, I can do that): _02431_

Something like this.
The towers are crude but give idea. The towers will be each end of part 4 with lifting in between them.
I stole the towers from the sub-stations I did.

I done some ramps ready for the steel girder bridge .. changing the pylons to a stained concrete colour instead of brick so the rusty metal not look same as pylons.
Do I leave the gray areas of these ramps as they are since the base road and rail ballast should cover it all? Or should I use the in game gravel or concrete tiles to shade them?
I heading to bed .. catch up again later.
Cheers

Here's the bridge approaches. Had look at some photos of bridges with concrete pylons and old ones have a stained appearance so I trying this see if looks ok. I'll do brick ones for the wooden bridges.

Might be able to do that too .. when look at old wooden bridges there's a mixture of what is used at the approaches. Some have timber with railway lines sticking up out of the ground to suppose the timber to hold back the earth, seen some brick, sandstone and some with concrete. Maybe could do different types so players have a choice if that is possible.

What I might do is design the approaches with all three ideas and see which one looks best and authentic.

If I on the right track this be showing Tables 00 to 04 complete except for the pylons. Attachment:
Tables 00 to 04.png [ 7.75 KiB | Viewed 10842 times ]
I'll do 04 and 05 before I do the pylons. It's 2.40 in morning here now .. hope to complete the girders to 4 and 5 before I go bed .. then I do pylons when I wake.

While we are on the steel bridges see if I can make a few changes to tables 2, 3, 4 and 5 tomorrow for the hexham bridge. Cheers
