Garry: It looks better with your new approach No 2. Could you please try by spreading it 1 tile more?

Been suggested I split these objects into more GRF files .. might be good idea .. but not too many .. maybe 1 more I thinking. I love using many GRF files in my games and think others do to. I don't play the game to try get rich, play just for the enjoymeny and often like all railways run at a lose and rely on Government taxes (Ctrl + Alt + C) and ask the Mayor of towns for money. I enjoy the landscaping and objects .. making things look better.

Altered the Embankment Approaches so have a choice if a shallow fall min grade to the flood plans, waterways, or some smaller water ways have a steeper Embankment Approach. Attachment:

The pic early showing 2 types numbered 1 and 2 .. No.1 is still available for those who prefer that type. Also been fixing some culverts so they align better and no so far away from the rails and roads. Attachment:

Would you like to test for me? Attachment:

Let me know if find any problems .. especially when it comes to alignment of pixels as I find that hard to check at times.

Been gardening. Planted Sugarcane and Cotton .. for landscaping been using rail ballast.
Going to see if can do some ballast on different slope angles .. When your track is laid along slopes the ballast might look nice on the sides of the slopes. Just an idea at moment and have experimenting to do.

Getting ideas again. Seeing if can make some ballast tiles different slopes to place along side railway lines that are following slope sections. Like the images of my NSWTrains running between Hornsby and Newcastle near Mullet Creek Tunnel (near Hawkesbury River).

Fields are wonderful. 3 tiles length looks much much better, thank you! Now the the illusion is OK! The eye can be tricked.
Just in the red area transition could be more smooth (straight all along the 3 tiles) at the edge. It gives the impression that it goes more higher there. (Also I see a repeated green row of pixels where the yellow arrow points. Is that just an artifact from copy paste just to view the object?)

Glad you got good eyes .. with you and others finding these things is great as some things you and other find I not notice with out zooming in a lot and even then some I miss. Been fiddling with Ballast tiles now and so far come up with this. Attachment:

Also added water tile to the culverts so look like drains direct to the lakes, oceans etc. Nice to use if an Industry is on edge of the water and looks like its drainage. Edit: Had a look at the image you mentioned .. couldn't see any green .. might be from the main tile. Had a go straitening up the edge .. have another look after I relax the yes for a while .. my computer times up for a few hours.

Got rocks in my head, so I but some at the base of the ballast .
The line separating the rocks and ballast to me looks like tidal (highwater) mark.
Whatcha all think?

Will be starting another Object set soon .. maybe called Auz_Rail_Foundations .. so can make embankments and along side slopes look nice. Something like the last few pics.

1. Some ugly pinky and light green pixels appear. Consider turning image to grayscale first or mix the grayscale with original, or use another method to dither or use another method to add noise (Depending on what you used to to process your image). 2. IMO a gradual transition from big to smaller rocks would look better, plus what was mentioned in tt-forums. - Yesterday young George was watching your artwork and I told him that the artist is Garry. George replied: Which Gary? From SpongeBob SquarePants?

Thanks Athanasios for those ideas. I don't know why but when cloning from some images to the sprites some pixels change colours. Change it to greyscale for ballast and rocks sounds a good idea. Will give it a try. Not sure how I go doing 3 sizes of the ballast and rocks .. but will give it a go. Not easy getting the rocks to a suitable scale. Just funny how the 2 rocks at bottom in different tiles happen to line up near perfect to look like one huge boulder. Tell George I is the snail .. slow and steady wins the race so they say Just wish I could win some I attached to sprites showing the rocks at different sizes. See if I can get some people with better eyes then me which would be better. I did the smallest 33% without losing the image and did up to 50% before I think was getting to large.

IMO the smaller ones (33, 35), but an in game screenshot would be helpful to compare.

Might be an idea .. seems the 35% appears most popular so see if can do something with it.
Getting shading right is the problem.
Been searching for something suitable to have 3 layers of ballast and stone but not easy to find something for the middle layer. One alternative I been pondering on it middle layer be same colour as rocks, and top slightly lighter colour .. but problem I then had was on the sunny side as top layer was very light.
I will keep pondering with it .

I changed the embankment rocks to the 35% size .. Attachment:
35rock.png [ 227.88 KiB | Viewed 8133 times ]
something I do have wrong is the cliff face (cutting) .. should look like natural rock .. not like ballast. That be something else I be working on.

Along the cliff face (cutting) suppose to represent side of a cliff hence the larger rocks. Going to be fun trying to get these looking better. Here some files if like to test. Attachment:

Ground Tiles - I intend to put different colour tiles in this of what you'd sometimes find along side rails and roads. Attachment:

The Lineside Objects - have removed the embankments from this set and placed in the Ground tiles.
