As a player, how would you like to be informed (if available) about updates to and/or new graphic files (GRFs) ?
You have two (2) choices !
= PM (subscription required) = eMail (subscription required) = Subscribe to / watch a 'News + Announcement' topic = GRFCrawler website = Informational GRFs inside OpenTTD game (*) = Follow discussion topic(s) relevant to graphics files interested in = none of the above (make a suggestion) = I don't care
(subscription required) = you would have to opt in to receive information, i.e. you need to be on a mailing list.
The poll is open for a month.
(*) This choice has been retained, to see how many of you would have liked that feature.

Thank you very much everybody for taking part in the survey …
The most popular way to receive information seems to be what we already have and do; i.e. by following a discussion topic relevant to graphics files interested in, or watch a News and Announcement topic.
Runner ups were visiting the GRFCrawler website or the unfortunately discontinued Informational GRF (iGRF). However, it is now possible to visit GRFCrawler from within the OpenTTD game directly, which is better than nothing and was introduced as a result of showcasing the iGRF.
PM and eMail subscriptions don't seem to be popular at all. Therefore, we will not pursue this option.
However, I have another idea, which I may give closer consideration in future. The idea is to make announcements regarding GRF updates on Twitter.

However, just posting a twitter message here or there shouldn't be too much of a hassle. It's then up to the playing community to follow them, which for some is the daily bread and butter.

OK proceed with it and I hope we will 'fish' some new players there. I only have a facebook account for the sake of some relatives and friends who insist to post photos there instead of emailing them.

Here's what I did for a site I run:
1) Set up an RSS feed for new post updates 2) Set up Tweetfeed, Feedburner or another service to distribute RSS feed to Twitter & Facebook.
