Hi,

I'd like to try some different Patchpacks and would like to have my newGRF's accessible to all.

How do I edit the config file to do this?

Thanks.

Pete.

Do you mean to make your GRFs available to TTDPatch?

No. I'll be trying the latest OTTD, Chill's Patchpack, the Spring Patchpack and New Map Features. I want to make my GRF's available to all these, and I read somewhere that I need to edit the config file, but no instructions on how to do so.

A couple of notes:
New Map Features is no longer a patch. It is now a branch/fork of OTTD and supports almost everything that OTTD trunk supports.
If a patchpack is not working under New Map Features, then that is possibly a bug and should be reported in the New Map Features topic at tt-forums.
Any GRF used with OTTD should also work with New Map Features.
If you are looking to have your GRF included in a patchpack, the method might vary with each patchpack and each patchpack maintainer/author should be contacted as to how to do this.

The simplest method to have a GRF included in OTTD/New Map Features is to load the GRF file into the newgrf folder found in the content_download folder which is in the OpenTTD folder in your Windows "My Documents" folder.
Code:
My Documents\OpenTTD\content_download\newgrf

As far as I know none of this should require editing the OTTD configuration file.

Does this answer your question? Perhaps I have misunderstood what you are trying to do.

Regards,

Wally

Patch packs are complete OpenTTD binaries that have patches already applied to the source code. All you need to do is download and run.

Since your objective is to use as many NewGRFs as possible, then your only choice out of the binaries you mention is Spring 2013 Patch Pack. ChillCore's PP operates on a very old version of OpenTTD and many NewGRFs no longer operate on it as they take advantage of vast improvements in the OpenTTD game. Cirdan's fork (New Map Features) only has a few patches implemented, but has the same restrictions on the number of NewGRFs you can run.

Keep in mind, though, OpenTTD still lets you use A LOT of NewGRFs.
